MetropolitanHost (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a Brooklyn, NY-based studio that sells WordPress templates, website packages, monthly maintenance plans, and professional services at metropolitanhost.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our site or purchase from us, how we use it, and the choices you have about it.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Account & order details — name, email, billing address, and phone number when you place an order or create a customer account.
- Project details — information you share in our contact form, live chat, or kickoff briefs for packages, custom design, and maintenance engagements (e.g., brand assets, site credentials for work we’re performing).
- Payment information — processed by our payment providers (Stripe and PayPal). We never see or store your full card number; we only receive a transaction token and the last four digits.
Information we collect automatically
- Device & usage — browser type, operating system, IP address, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps.
- Cookies & similar technologies — see our Cookie Policy for the full list.
- Support tools — when you interact with our live chat, we receive the content of the conversation and any metadata your browser sends.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To fulfill orders (packages, templates, maintenance, services) and provide customer support.
- To send transactional emails (receipts, invoices, order status, kickoff briefs, monthly maintenance reports).
- To operate and improve our website, analyze usage, and debug issues.
- To prevent fraud and abuse (reCAPTCHA, rate limiting).
- To send you service-related updates. Marketing emails are opt-in only and you can unsubscribe at any time.
3. Third Parties We Share Data With
We only share what’s necessary for the services we provide:
- Stripe & PayPal — payment processing.
- Google — Analytics, Search Console, and reCAPTCHA.
- Tawk.to — live chat support.
- Our hosting provider — for infrastructure only.
- Legal authorities — if compelled by law or to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
4. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, and similar), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@metropolitanhost.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.
5. Data Retention
We keep order and invoice data for as long as needed for tax, accounting, and warranty purposes (typically 7 years). Active accounts are retained while your account is open; you can request deletion at any time. Chat transcripts are deleted after 12 months of inactivity.
6. Security
We use SSL/TLS for all traffic, secure password hashing, and industry-standard hosting with daily offsite backups. No system is 100% secure; if we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will notify you without undue delay.
7. International Data Transfers
We’re based in the United States. If you access our services from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. Our third-party providers may store data in other regions under adequate data-protection frameworks.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our services aren’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes to This Policy
