Tenebra is a photography portfolio website template: a dark, painterly HTML5 template for a fine art photographer of portraits and still lifes who sells her work as limited-edition prints. Charcoal walls, coral hairlines and a white museum mat, with Old Standard TT capitals and Open Sans, set the studio. Underneath, it runs real print and sitting logic: every print in three sizes, each size its own numbered edition with the numbers left, the next number and a price that steps up as the edition sells. It also has right-to-left support and WebGL layers – fine craquelure spreading across the dark bands like an old varnish, and a linen cloth simulated in the footer, settling over a still life you never see.

Three Home Pages

• Home 01 – The Studio: a hero slider of works, portraits and still lifes and four tall works. Then come the series side by side, the Still Life Composes Itself – the linen, the jug, the pewter plate, two pears and a knife are set down on a walnut table one by one as you scroll, the window warming as it fills – five steps of a sitting and collectors’ words. Finally, the page ends with the studio, a mosaic of eight works, sittings, the exhibition on now and the journal.
• Home 02 – The Editions: prints in small editions with the numbers left on each, the price ladder, the Edition Ledger – the register page of one edition strikes its sold numbers through in coral ink one after another and rings the next number – papers printed by hand and collectors’ walls. Then comes the exhibition and print care.
• Home 03 – The Gallery: a side menu beside a split hero, portraits and still lifes. Then comes the work by series with a preview that follows the pointer. Next comes the Frame & Mat Swap – one print on a lit wall changes its frame and mat option by option as you scroll, the price of each beside it – exhibitions now and next. Finally, the page ends with a sitting by window light and collectors’ words.

Print, Sitting & Shop Pages

• Print Details: size, paper, frame and mat with the framed preview, the price line by line, the next number, the numbers left, the rung of the ladder and the edition register for the chosen size. Kozo paper is not made in the largest size, a mat needs a frame and a sold-out size cannot be chosen. Add To Bag holds the number.
• Edition Register: every editioned work, size by size, with the sold, on hold and left counts and the next number.
• Print Shop: series, subject, size and price filters, sort by price, newest or fewest left, search, quick add of the first size with numbers left, bag, coupon, free-shipping meter, checkout with insured, express or studio collection and an order number, and a wishlist.
• Portrait Sittings & Book A Sitting: four kinds of sitting, the light by season, and a four-step booking – kind, a day a week ahead and a slot that ends an hour before that day’s sunset, backdrop and extras, details – with the total. It also has the deposit and the balance after the proofs. Continue never blocks; only the last step checks the details.
• Proofing Gallery: the sitter’s proofs to tick, the prints the sitting includes and the price of each extra pick.
• Series & Exhibitions: the six series and the exhibitions sorted into on now, coming next and past from the date, with an exhibition page and a map.
• Print Care: how to hang, light and keep a print. It also has a display check that works out the years before visible fading from the room, the hours of light and the glazing.
