What's in the box.
Silvera is one of our website templates for photographers: an HTML5 template for an independent photo zine and collective – a publication that prints other photographers’ street and documentary work, runs open calls, hangs the prints in its own project space and throws a launch night for every issue. Black-and-white photography, highlighter yellow on white and ink, Roboto set large and tight with Courier Prime for the typed captions. Underneath, it runs real publishing logic. Open calls have deadlines worked out from the visitor’s date, with their state, days left and a live countdown. There is also an entry fee calculator and a five-step submission.
In addition, the issues show their print runs and copies left, and a subscription is priced by plan and postage. The contributors are listed by what they photograph. Exhibitions and launch nights follow their own repeat rules, with places left and a guest list. Finally, a zine shop sells prints by size. It ships with a light and a dark theme. It also has right-to-left support and a WebGL layer of long city shadows sliding across the bands, with the zine riffling its pages in the footer.
Three Home Pages
- Home 01 – The Zine: a full-screen black-and-white slider and the statement beside the new issue. Then come the issue’s series in a yellow frame, the back catalogue – twelve covers stacked in the middle fan out by year as you scroll – what the zine publishes, the open-call board with each call’s time running out, the contributors, their words over a photograph, the stockists and the journal.
- Home 02 – Open Calls: the calls as numbered, framed photographs with their titles turned up the side. Then come the next deadline counting down and how a series reaches the page. Next is the contact frame: a photograph that fills the sheet shrinks into its own frame on the roll. After that come every call by state, the fee calculator and the work published from the calls. Finally, there are the portfolio review night and the letter.
- Home 03 – The Collective: the collective’s name in the middle of the header and a yellow-framed slider of the shows. Next come what is on the wall and the next launch night, with places left. Then comes the wall of prints: the contributors’ portraits, scattered and turned, line up along the picture rail. After that come the photographers by what they shoot, the project space with its hours and the subscription.
Zine, Calls & Collective Pages
- Open Calls: 5 calls, from issues and a window show to a grant. Each one opens, closes and is judged on dates worked out from the day the page is opened. There are open, closing soon, upcoming and judging tabs, with a live countdown to the next deadline. Finally, a timeline runs from deadline to results, next to a fee calculator.
- Submit Your Work: five steps. First the call, then the series: title, statement, frames up to the call’s limit, and files or a link. Next comes about you, then the fee. A subscriber’s first series is free, students pay half, and the reduced rate starts from the 4th series. Finally, a review step adds a live summary and a reference. Continue never blocks, and only Submit checks.
- The Issues: 12 issues by year with search, pages, print runs and copies left, sold-out issues marked. An issue page with its spreads in the lightbox, its photographers and its launch night.
- Subscribe: three plans priced with the postage for Germany, the EU or the world. Each shows the first issue, the price an issue and the saving against single copies. It also shows the renewal issue and goes into the bag.
- The Work: 12 series with tabs and search, a series in big numbered frames and a series laid out as a contact sheet with the picks marked.
- Contributors: the four editors and every photographer by city and by street, documentary or portrait, with a profile page.
- Exhibitions & Nights: the show on now and the next and past ones, from their runs. Launch nights, portfolio reviews, photo walks and a zine fair follow their own repeat rules. A guest list also takes names off the places left.
- The Zine Shop: back issues, limited prints priced by size with the edition left, postcards, a poster, a tote and a slipcase. Category, price, sort and search, bag, wishlist, a coupon, shipping by zone with free EU shipping over €60, VAT included and an order number.
